The Sleep-Out For The Homeless awareness project raised $4,027 in 2011. $1,000 was donated to Haven Ministries, $1,000 was donated to Elijah's Bowl and $150 was donated to a local family in need of heating fuel. The balance of $1,877 will be taken by the youth group to Washington, D.C. and given to non-profit ministries which are housing and feeding the homeless or offering ministry to help transition the homeless back into traditional society.
While in Washington, the team of 20 youth and adults from Wesley will be serving in soup kitchens, food and clothing distribution centers, after school child care programs benefiting the children of working parents, community recreation centers and various ministries which focus on "restoring" the dignity of individuals. The team also participates in prayer vigils supporting the needs of the urban city.
